The Systems g roup at Microsoft Research is seeking exceptional Software Engineer candidates in Latin America. If you enjoy innovating and solving challenging problems in operating systems, hypervisors, cloud platforms, and distributed systems, this is the job for you.





Being part of the Systems group at Microsoft Research gives you the unique opportunity to work on new problems and influence the next generation of products in the computer industry. Our group is conducting exciting projects in several areas, including systems support for machine learning, machine learning support for systems, serverless computing, cloud platform efficiency, power and energy management, kernel-bypass techniques and systems, programmable interconnects, and program verification.

Responsibilities



This  R esearch  S oftware  D evelop ment Engineer  position involves working with researchers and other developers. You will be expected to create innovative research prototypes, help transform a high-impact research agenda into concrete system architectures and  implementations, and  help build large-scale production systems. You will collaborate closely with Microsoft’s major product groups, such as Azure, Office, and Bing. You will also  have the opportunity to  collaborate on technical papers and presentations.



Qualifications



Required Qualifications:



- Bachelor ’ s degree in Computer Science or in a related discipline.

- 3 years of programming experience in C/C++, C#, Java, or Rust, including any graduate student time.

- Fluency in written and spoken English



Preferred Qualifications



- A PhD in Computer Science or in a related discipline is a plus.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team.

- Passion for technology and innovation.

- Knowledge of the internals of one or more of the following: Windows/Linux kernel, a cloud computing platform, a large-scale data analytics platform, or another distributed system.
